Can a shy, nice, sensitive guy have a relationship in high school?

I mean I'm pretty shy, nice, quiet and sensitive. I've had girls say that I'm sweet and funny, but I'm not like a "ladies man" or anything. It seems like only the guys who are tough, attractive, and treat girls like crap get girlfriends in teen years... I'm friends with a bunch of girls, but none of them like me. Personally, I don't care, but why is it that girls go for that type of guy usually? What is it about them? I mean if I could get a girlfriend (haha :P) I would treat them with SO much respect and I would take every chance to compliment them and just make them feel amazing... But why? Why is it that girls like the popular, tough, and jerky guys? I personally don't give a sh*t what they do, but I'm just curious. Thanks! :)
